Shelley Ferrell Fleming, age 72, of Deer Park, Texas, passed away Wednesday, November 23, 2022. He was born in Cameron, Texas on August 8, 1950, to Doris Evelyn (Shelley) and Carroll H. Fleming. Shelley grew up in Pasadena, Texas and graduated from Sam Rayburn High School in 1969. After high school he served in the United States Army. Specialist Shelley Fleming was stationed in Korea from 1970-1971 where he served as military police and guard. Upon return home, he worked for the United States Postal Service for several years before beginning a career in sales that spanned almost four decades. After retiring from sales, he enjoyed a part-time job as a Marshall at Bay Forest Golf Course in La Porte. Shelley was a proud Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Lifetime Committee member, with long tenured service on the Corral Club Committee, Suites West team. For many years Shelley enjoyed his time on cook-off teams, traveling the country to play in golf tournaments and attend NASCAR races, sailing trips with friends and tailgating for Texans games. He was a lifelong fan of the Texas Longhorns, Houston Texans, and Houston Astros. He loved attending and watching football and baseball games, including Little League baseball and softball games to watch his great nephew and niece play. Shelley was preceded in death by his parents, Doris and Carroll Fleming, and many beloved uncles and aunts. He is survived by his devoted sister, Patricia Bryars and husband Dannie of Pasadena, Texas; nephew, Danny Bryars of Pasadena, Texas; niece, Shelley Ann Covington and husband Clay of League City, Texas; great nephew and niece, Nolan and Olivia Covington; many cousins and lifelong friends.
Shelley's longtime friend, Starley E. Shugart, will be officiating the funeral service. Serving as pallbearers will be Bill Strait, Mike Morton, Ralph Chaney, Bruce Munselle, Jerry Railey and T.P. Singh.
