Sid was born on March 22, 1931 (the seventh of thirteen children) in Kelly, Louisiana to Luther Bryant Grant and Lottie Cruse Grant. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force (communication) while stationed in Japan before and during the Korean War.
Sid retired from Shell Chemical Company in Deer Park, Texas after 36 years of dedicated service. He always counted 37 years due to the yearlong strike in 1962.
In retirement, always the active man, he traveled, loved to garden, hunted, fished, and served as chairman of City of La Porte Zoning Variance committee, renovated two houses himself, and supervised the building of two new houses. He reconnected with his old A Department buddies, playing poker, and owned and managed two farms (a boyhood dream), located at Wisner and Ft. Necessity Louisiana.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and by his sister, Velma Martain and Lottie Mae Martain; brothers, Garland Grant, Jairl Grant, Johnny R. Grant, and Luther B. Grant, Jr.
He also leaves the love of his life, his wife, LaRue Tucker Grant and son, Sidney Tucker Grant, as well as other family members and friends who will cherish his memory.
