

Gwendolyn Sue Barker was called home on December 16, 2015. She passed peacefully at home in Deer Park, Texas at the age of 72 from the arms of her loving family to the loving arms of her LORD She was born on November 1, 1943 in Muskogee, OK. Her strong sense of independence and strength will forever be with us.
Sue was preceded in death by her parents, Haskell and Dorothy Gilliland and her son Michael Thomas Jestice.
Sue is survived by her husband of 33 years, Ted Barker, her daughter Debbie Swartzwelder and husband Mike, granddaughter Brittney Jestice, grandson Charles Jestice, granddaughter Lindsey Jacob, great granddaughter, Jocelyn Gould, foster brother Timmy Hayes, Sister in law, Bonnie Anderson and nephews Paul Bentley and Ryan Bentley. She also leaves behind many other family members and friends.
Sue worked for Rohm and Haas Texas as the company’s Certified Occupational Health Nurse for 23 years. She attended South East Church of Christ and the Maxwell Senior Citizen Center. She was a Worthy Matron of the Eastern Star and a volunteer in the Art Park Players in Deer Park, Texas. She loved quilting, sewing hand work, cross word puzzles, reading, singing and travel. She could tell you where all the Cracker Barrel restaurants were located. Most importantly she loved her family.
Everyone called her Grandma or The Boss. One of her wishes was for everyone to celebrate her life. She leaves cherished memories in the hearts of her loving family and will be missed by all she came in contact with.
Sue was loved by her family and friends and will be missed. The family will receive friends for visitation at Grand View Funeral Home on Monday, December 21, 2015 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, December 22, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at Grand View Funeral Home.
