

Joe Marcus Villarreal, age 70, passed away peacefully on November 1, 2025, surrounded by his loved ones. Born on November 29, 1954, Joe lived a life filled with love, laughter, and unwavering devotion to his family.
Joe was a hard worker, a devoted husband, a nurturing father, and a loving grandfather. He spent his childhood and part of his adulthood in Refugio, Texas, where he played football and developed a strong work ethic—working while attending school. Joe had a deep love for music, especially Led Zeppelin, Queen, and Aerosmith, and he was known for his incredible cooking and his ability to bring people together through food and laughter. He enjoyed watching martial arts movies, relaxing with family, and sharing stories that made everyone feel at home.
Joe is survived by his devoted wife of 36 years, Christina Martinez, his mother Audelia Resendez, and his beloved children, Rudy Martinez Jr., Russell Martinez, Marcus Villarreal, Regina Brown Villarreal, and Alexis Vasquez. He was a proud and loving grandfather to Nicolas Martinez, Alex Martinez, Kelan Brown, and Kayla Hill. Joe’s memory will also be cherished by his siblings, Jesse Villarreal (Blasa), Pete Resendez, Reyes Resendez (Angela), Janet Rivera (David), and Elaine Resendez, along with numerous nieces and nephews who will remember his warmth, humor, and kindness.
He was preceded in death by his father, Jesus Villarreal, his brother, Johnny Villarreal, and his nephew, Leo Resendez.
Joe will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His legacy of love, strength, and joy will live on through his family and friends who were blessed to know him.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, November 6, 2025, from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with a Rosary at 6:00 p.m. at Funeraria Del Angel Palm Valley, located at 4607 North Sugar Road, Pharr, TX 78577.
