Jovita Gonzalez

Jovita was born to Jose Chapa and Maria de Jesus Reyes in China Nuevo León on June 1, 1940. Jovita married “The Love of her Life", Victor Gonzalez in November 1960 and together had six children, Victor Gonzalez (Cristina Sifuentes), Maria Esthela (A. Jaime) Gonzalez, Pablo (Dora) Gonzalez, Teresita (Hector) Morin, Juan José (Bertha) Gonzalez, and Jovita Abigail (Jesus) Montanez. Jovita called the city of Pharr home since 1977.

Jovita enjoyed cooking for her family. She especially loved having family over and having a full house. The entire family knew they could always find her delicious tortillas de harina in her microwave. Jovita was passionate about gardening. She could spend endless hours working on her abundant plant collection.

Being a loving grandmother and great grandmother came naturally to Jovita. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren loved her warm hugs and beautiful smile.

Jovita is survived by three sons, three daughters, 15 grandkids, and 12 great-grandkids, 4 sisters and 2 brothers. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Victor Gonzalez, grandson, José Francisco Montañez, her brothers, Reynol Chapa, Felix Chapa, Jose Chapa, and parents Jose Chapa and Maria Reyes.

Visitation will be from 5 PM to 11 PM with a 7 PM rosary. Thursday, September 5th, at Del Angel Funeral Home, 4607 N. Sugar Rd, Pharr, TX. A chapel service will be at 10 AM Friday, September 6, 2024, at Del Angel Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Palm Valley Memorial Gardens in Pharr.

Funeral services are under the direction of Funeraria del Angel Palm Valley in Pharr.
