PHARR-Dr. Kim Alden Cockins, 64, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday January 22nd, 2020 in Mission, Texas. Kim was born October 25th, 1955 in Zanesville, Ohio to Richard Aldan Cockins and Betty Jane Cockins. He is survived by his loving wife Mayselle Elaine Cockins; children, Mayselle Jane King (Josh King), Alison Elizabeth Davis (Brian Davis), Nicholas Aldan (Cockins) Callisto, three precious grandchildren, Cason Samuel King, Corrie Mayselle King and Juliet Harper Davis. He is also survived by one sister Michele Sue (Cockins) Rosenzweig (Steve Rosenzweig).
February is recognized as American Heart Month, it was always near and dear to his heart. He was a Cardiologist and saved so many lives over the course of his 30 year career. Because of this our family is
asking that you please join us to celebrate a life that touched so many hearts on Saturday February 15th, 2020 at First United Methodist Church, 1225 Boca Chica Blvd. Brownsville, Texas from 2:00-3:00pm and
a service to follow 3:00-4:00pm.
At the family's request, if you are a doctor or a nurse, please wear your scrubs and white coats to honor Dr. Cockins. If you are not a physician or part of the medical staff, the family would like to encourage wearing red or any uplifting bright colors.
If you have a fond memory of Kim, the family is requesting that it be shared in a Valentines card and brought to the church. At a later date, the family will be hosting a private Irish wake for Kim where they will read these memories from the cards provided during the service.
At the family's request, please No flowers or plants. A fund at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley is being created in honor of Dr. Kim A. Cockins to support medical student scholarships. As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be sent to:
