Mateo Xavier Barragan, though his time with us was short, left a lasting mark on the hearts of those who awaited his arrival with anticipation. Born silently into this world on May 18, 2024, at Rio Grande Regional Hospital in McAllen, Texas, Mateo's journey was one of profound love, albeit brief.
His parents, Andres and Dora Barragan of Pharr, held dreams and aspirations for their precious Mateo, dreams that were shattered with his silent entry.
Mateo is mourned deeply by his paternal grandparents, Roberto and Dalia Barragan of Pharr, and his maternal grandparents, Arturo and Maria Rodriguez of San Juan, whose arms ache to hold the grandson they never had the chance to embrace. He is remembered fondly by his uncles and aunts, Robert (Josh) and Heidi Barragan, Pedro and Andrea Caballero, and Javier and Amy Rodriguez, whose hearts ache with the weight of his absence. He is also survived by his great-grandparents, Hilda Ruiz, Maria de Jesus Briones, and Maria Teodora Cervantes along with his cousins, Thea, Maya, and Vincent Barragan. Their hearts, heavy with grief, mourn the loss of a descendant they never had the chance to know.
Mateo is joined in eternal rest by his uncle, Roberto Xavier Barragan, cousin, Javier Ernesto Rodriguez II, and his great-grandparents, Otoniel Preza, Roberto and Olivia Barragan, Santos Rodriguez, and Rogelio Rodriguez, whose spirits embrace him in a realm beyond our comprehension.
Though Mateo's time on this Earth was brief, his impact is profound. In his name, let us cherish the fragility of life, hold dear the memories of those we have lost, and find solace in the love that binds us all.
May Mateo rest in peace, forever cradled in the loving embrace of eternity.
Visitation will begin Wednesday, May 22, 2024 at Funeraria Del Angel Palm Valley in Pharr, Texas from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM with a chapel service at 1:00 PM and burial to follow at Palm Valley Memorial Gardens in Pharr, Texas
