

Last Friday, February 23rd, 2018, Heaven claimed a portion of virtue God deposited here on Earth - friend, cousin, nephew, brother, father, son, grandson and Pastor to many – Rev. Gerardo Ozuna personified kindness and meekness only bettered by his insistent Servant Heart. Age 47, Rev. Gerardo Ozuna is survived by his 2 daughters Alessandra and Giuliana, his parents Pedro and Guadalupe Ozuna, his siblings Jose Humberto, Alisia, Narcedalia, Agustin, Viviana, Pedro Jr. and grandmother Viviana Ozuna de Gonzalez. Gerardo Ozuna was born in Los Ramones, Nuevo Leon, México on March 26,1970 to parents Pedro and Guadalupe Ozuna. He attended Niños Héroes elementary school in F. González N.L. México, Arturo B. De La Garza secondary school in Cerralvo; earned his GED at Alliance High School in Nebraska. Obtained an Assosiates degree in computer programming at ISAC institute in Monterrey, MX, attended Instituto Bethel in Pharr, Texas where he taught Bible Studies. He earned a Bachelor’s degree in Spanish from University of Texas, RGV; then went on to earn a Master’s in Divinity from Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, Oklahoma where he became a professor in Spanish and Greek at Oral Roberts University. He also completed Doctoral studies in Leadership at Pepperdine University in Los Angeles, California. He taught at different public schools in California before embracing a pastoral calling at Templo Calvario in Bakersfield, CA where he was ordained as a minister with the Assemblies of God that led him to become sectional Presbyter.
Gerardo Ozuna was a distinct family man and loving father. He was vibrantly social and deeply involved in Ministry. He worked tirelessly in improving church needs and ministering to his flock that he loved like Christ loves his church. His family and friends will always remember a tall handsome man who never raised his voice, never said no to a person in need; He gave unstintingly of his time, effort and resources; a father who loved his daughters immensely. Gerardo Ozuna will be missed and missed and missed until Christ’s return.
A first viewing is scheduled for Thursday March 1st from 10am - 1pm followed by a special service at 5pm at Luz para Las Naciones in Mission, Texas. All are welcomed to attend and celebrate Gerardo’s life.
Additional visitation will be held on Friday at 10am with a service at 1pm followed by burial at 3pm. Burial will take place at Palm Valley Memorial Gardens,located at 4607 North Sugar Road, Pharr, TX 78577.
The family would like to thank all for the flowers which can be sent to the funeral and donations can be sent to 700 West Esperanza Ave. McAllen, Texas.
