Andy Lee Johnson Jr.

1st Sgt. (Ret) Andy Lee Johnson, Jr., 88 of Smiths Station, Alabama died Friday, December 31, 2010 at his home. Funeral services with military honors will be held Tuesday, January 4, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 3770 Hwy 431 N., Phenix City, AL with chaplain Charles Hunt officiating. Burial will follow at Main Post Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the service.

Mr. Johnson was born February 23, 1922 in Darlington, Florida, son of the late Andy Lee Johnson, Sr. and Rachel Hall Johnson. He was retired from the U.S. Army, a member of the Crawford Masonic Lodge #365, Phenix City York Rite Bodies, Alcazar Shrine Temple, Phenix City Shrine Club and Oak Grove Baptist Church in Westville, FL. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Evie Wilkerson Johnson, grandson, Jason L. Johnson, sisters, Itheria White, Pansy Palmer, Jeanette Spikes, brothers, Albert Johnson, Brady Johnson and Randolph Johnson.

Survivors include his son, Kenneth Lee Johnson and wife Jenny L. Johnson of LaGrange, GA, daughter, Charlotte Ann Sasser-Smiley and husband Derry of Hinesville, GA, sisters, Veleria Ward of Lake Wales, FL, Jewel Bowers of Samson, AL, Brunetta Brannon of Dothan, AL, four grandchildren, five great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
