Charles Edmond Marion, 74, of Phenix City, AL died Friday, March 19, 2021 at St Francis in Columbus, GA.
Funeral services will be held 11am on Tuesday, March 23, 2021 at Cornerstone Church of God, 7701 Lloyd Road in Columbus, GA. Interment will be at 2pm on Tuesday, March 23, 2021 at Ft Mitchell National Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday, March 22, 2021, 6:00pm – 8:00pm at Striffler – Hamby Mortuary in Phenix City, AL.
Mr. Marion was born May 14, 1946 in Columbus, GA, son of the late Joe Marion Sr. and Clyde Marion. Mr. Marion received a BS degree in History from Lee College, Cleveland, TN and a Masters in both Education and Personnel Management from Troy State University in Phenix City, AL. He served in the Air Force from 1969-1973. He taught a Woodland Christian School in Phenix City, AL before serving as Principal in Orlando and Plant City, FL then he became Principal at Westwood Hills Christian Academy in Gainesville, FL for 11 years. Then he worked at DFACS in Columbus, GA before retiring in 2013.
He loved playing his trumpet, reading, crossword puzzles, woodworking and anything to do with history. He was an avid Braves and Florida Gator fan. He loved to travel and was able to go to Washington, DC in 2018, which was his dream trip.
Most of all he loved his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and his family. He was a member of Cornerstone Church of God. He cherished all of the church families he was privileged to know throughout his whole life.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his loving wife of 51 years, Diane Marion; Sons, Eric Marion and Jason Marion of Phenix City, AL; Sisters Janice Elliott (Robert) and Carolyn Marion of Columbus, GA; Brothers, Joe Marion Jr. (Pam) of Cleveland, TN and Daniel Marion (Maria) of New Port Richey, FL.
