December 17, 1945 – July 4, 2025
Eric LaWayne Niles Sr., age 79, of Seale, Alabama, passed away peacefully on July 4, 2025, surrounded by loved ones. Born on December 17, 1945, in Crawford, Alabama, Eric lived a life marked by hard work, deep devotion to his family, and a passion for all things on four wheels.
A proud and skilled man, Eric spent his life working in construction, where he was self-employed and well respected in his craft. He took pride in building things with his hands—projects that stood as a testament to his dedication, strength, and commitment to excellence. Beyond his work, Eric was an avid car enthusiast who could often be found under the hood, talking horsepower, or simply enjoying the quiet beauty of a well-built machine. His love for classic cars wasn’t just a hobby; it was a way he connected with the people and world around him.
Those who knew Eric will remember his warm heart, strong will, and the wisdom he generously shared. His presence filled a room, and his legacy lives on in the family he so deeply loved.
Eric was preceded in death by his parents, Harmon and Vera Niles; his daughter, Rhonda Schuster; and his siblings, Ruby Maddox, Marvin Niles, Edward Niles, and Voncile Godwin.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Jeanette Niles, and his children: Angela Grizzle (Charles Grizzle), Theresa Hamilton (Jose Hamilton), Eric Niles Jr. (Jean Niles), and Chad Schuster (April Schuster). He was a proud grandfather to 18 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren, and a beloved uncle to countless nieces and nephews, all of whom brought great joy to his life and carry his memory in their hearts.
He is also survived by his sister, Margie Ganus (Larry Ganus), who remained a loving and supportive presence in his life.
Though he is no longer with us, the impact of Eric’s life will echo for generations through the love he gave, the values he lived by, and the memories cherished by all who were blessed to know him.
“Your wings were ready, but our hearts were not.”
