Eva Frances White, 101 of Phenix City, Alabama went to be with the Lord on Tuesday January 6, 2015. She was born May 6, 1913 in Midland, Georgia to the late Andrew Jonsey Watson and Eva Josie Short Watson. She was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters. Also, her husband Ralph White, a son, Marion White, grandson Donnie White and great grandson Wesley McArthur.
She is survived by a son, Don White of Seale, AL, daughter, Betty Norris and husband Grover of Smiths Station, AL, six grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and 10 great great grandchildren.
She was a member of Central Baptist Church in Phenix City. She loved her church family dearly. She worked for Sears & Roebuck for 30 years, working 10 years and three months without missing a day. She dressed up when Sears had an "old fashion day" and won first place and got 12 T-Bone Steaks, which we enjoyed.
Since retiring, she enjoyed traveling, seeing 33 states and six foreign countries. She drove until she was 96. After a fall at the drug store, she said the Lord told her it was time to hang it up.
She loved being a prankster. Would put on outfits to fool people and get laughs. She would work in her albums, placing pictures of family and friends, putting puzzles together and doing yard work. She always said to me, "it's not ladylike to ride motorcylces", but guess what, she and my dad eloped on one. This was so funny when I found out later in years.
She was so proud of her father and brother for fixing President Roosevelt's car so he could use hand controls to drive. Her father wanted to show him how much he appreciated getting social security started for the people.
Some would ask her how she attributed her long life, she said living a healthy lifestyle, working hard and most important her love and trust in the Lord.
She will be missed greatly, but the memories linger on forever for the family and friends she made in her lifetime.
Pall bearers will be her grandsons. Visitation will be Thursday from 6-8pm at Striffler-Hamby and services will be Friday Jan. 9th at Central Baptist Church at 2:00pm with Rev. Dexter James officiating. Burial will follow at Lakeview Memory Gardens.
The family would like to thank hospice for the care she received and kindness shown to us. God bless and hold you.
