
Ezra Black, Jr. 86 of Phenix City, AL, passed away Monday December 10, 2012 at his home. Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. EST Thursday December 13, 2012 in the chapel of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 3770 Hwy 431 N./280 W., Phenix City, AL. Rev. Deawn Richards will officiate. Burial will follow in Lakeview Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the funeral home.
Mr. Black was born October 2, 1926 in Troy, Alabama. He is the son of the late Ezra Brannon and Minnie Culpepper Black. He is retired from the Lee County Sheriff's Department with more tha 20 years of service and was a member and faithful usher at The Church of Columbus. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Gerald Brannon Black, William Henry Black, his sister, Mary Emma Wombles and granddaughter, Patrissa Lynn Black.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Louise Cook Black of Phenix City, AL, daughter, Sarah Sheppard and husband H.L. of Midland, GA, sons Edward Black and wife Mary and John Earl Black all of Phenix City, AL, sister, Katie Francis Adams of Brundidge, AL, grandchildren Jeffery Black, Jacob Black, Joshua Black, Patty Burton, Anna Spraggins, Lavonda Plazas and husband Christian, Scott Sheppard and wife Beth, Carla Epp and husband Alex, thirteen great grandchildren, two great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
