

SFC (Ret) Frederick L. Kearney, Sr., 86 of Phenix City, Alabama died Sunday, December 4, 2016 at his home. Funeral services wiith military honors will be held at 2:00P.M.Wedenesday in Lakewood Hall at Striffler-Hamby, Phenix City with Rev. Jim Caldwell officiating. Serving as pall bearers will be the deacons of Central Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Lakeview Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
Mr. Kearney was born July 30, 1930 in Phenix City, Alabama; son of the late Morris James and Myrtle Shavers Kearney. Mr. Kearney served in the U.S. Army with 24 years of service. He earned the Bronze Star Medal while serving in Vietnam, the Presidential Unit Citation-2, Good Conduct Medals and the Vienam Cross of Gallantry w/Palm. He retired from Pasco Steel Buildings in 1995 and was a member of United Steel Worker's Union and Central Baptist Church in Phenix City, AL where he served as a deacon and an AWANA leader for many years.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Joseph Kearney, Betty Leis and Roselle Rauh.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Tina Johnson Kearney of Phenix City, AL, son, Fred Kearney, Jr. and his wife, Misty of Salem, AL, daughters, Frieda K. Hisker and husband Richard of Chesney, SC, Angela K. Franklin and husband Steve of Phenix City, AL, sister-in-laws, Florece Kearney of Minden, LA and Barbara Johnson of Beaver Creek, OH; 11 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.
