James Larry Churchwell

James Larry Churchwell, 59 of Smiths Station, AL died Wednesday, December 28, 2011 at the Medical Center. A memorial service will be held Friday (today), December 30, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. in the chapel of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 3770 Hwy 431 N., Phenix City, AL with Rev. DeWayne Dean officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Mr. Churchwell was born August 13, 1952 in Lakeland, Florida. He was the son of the late James Albert Churchwell and Jeanette Churchwell Brooks of Phenix City, AL. He was retired from Synovus after 16 years of service and was a member of Holland Creek Baptist Church. Other than his father, he was preceded in death by his brother, Randy Allen Churchwell.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara White Churchwell of Smiths Station, AL, children, Larry Adam Churchwell and wife Jennifer of Columbus, GA, Jamie Churchwell Boyette and husband Brian, Angie Henderson, and Eric Henderson all of Smiths Station, AL, his mother, Jeanette Churchwell Brooks of Phenix City, AL, brother, Jeff Churchwell and wife Barbara of Smiths Station, AL, seven loving granchildren, Clayton Exum, Noah Churchwell, Zach Johnson, Nina Churchwell, Austin Chumney, Emma Churchwell and Avery Boyette; two nieces, Kristy Churchwell O'steen and Hope Churchwell Cobb; nephew, Jason Churchwell, many loving aunts, uncles and cousins. The family would like to express a special "thanks" to the nurses and doctors of seven ICU at the Medical Center.
