
James M. Myers, 86, of Phenix City, Al.,died Sunday, December 17, 2017 at Kindred Hospice at Franciscan Woods. Funeral Service with military honors will be held Thursday, December 21, 2017 at 11:00 am in Lakewood Hall at Striffler-Hamby Phenix City. The family will receive friends, Wednesday evening from 6-8 pm at the funeral home.
Mr. Myers was born, March 6, 1931 in Columbus, the son of Jody F. and Sallie Myers. He retired from the U.S. Army as a Staff Sgt., after 21 years of service, having served in Korea and Vietnam. After his service in the U.S. Army, he retired from the Sunshine Biscuit Company after 26 years. He was a member of the Harvest Pointe Church of the Nazarene.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Nellie Myers, son, Derrell Ramirez, sisters, Clara Strickland, Jean West, Aver Nell Ponte, and Essie Gould. Brothers, C.B Myers and E.L. Myers.
Surviving family include sons, James A. Ramirez and his wife, Linda of Madison, TN. and Walter Thomas Myers and his wife Fay of Columbus. Grandchildren and their spouses, Brandon and Cathy Myers, Brooke and Bryce Mainor, Marc and Vicky Ramirez, Kim and Jason Jones and Steve Montgomery. Five Great Grandchildren, Landon Myers, Aidan Myers, Isabella Myers, Colton Hampton, and Jack Ramirez. A very special niece and caregiver, Cindy Cunningham and her husband, Joseph, and many Nieces, Nephews, and great Nieces and Nephews.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Kindred Hospice or his church Harvest Pointe Church of the Nazarene.
