

MSG Jeffrey Quinn Ethridge, 52, U.S. Army (RET) of Houston, Texas died Tuesday May 3, 2011. Funeral services with military honors will be held 2:00pm EDT Monday May 9th at Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery in Ft. Mitchell, Alabama, according to Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 3770 Highway 431 N, Phenix City, Alabama, 36867. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday from 12:30pm until 1:30pm. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be to the Lymphoma Research Foundation, American Legion Post #119, Henry County Veterans Memorial Park.
MSG Ethridge was born March 6, 1959 in Ft. Knox, KY., son of the late Quinn Ethridge and Minnie Parker Ethridge. He graduated from Abbeville Christian Academy in 1977 and attained a BS in business administration during military service. He retired from the Army with more than 21 years of service. Military awards include the Army Commendation Medal the Army Achievement Medal, Meritorious Service Medal ( 3 awards), expert marksmanship badge and other personal and unit awards. MSG Ethridge was an active life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the American Legion and the Disabled American Veterans. Jeffrey proudly served the Natural Resources Conservation as a soil conservation technician for Henry County, Alabama for over six years. He battled Mantle cell lymphoma for over 4 years, always seeking to improve treatments on rare and incurable diease for others. He loved his family,relatives, friends and his country and has no regrets. "Life is short, make the best of it and better for all mankind".
Survivors include his wife of 31 years, Cherie Fleming Ethridge of Houston, TX., daughters and son-in-law, April Elwood , Ashley and Brock Price, grand daughter, Makayla Ann Elwood, sisters and brothers-in-law, Cora Ann and David Long, Connie Rose and Jimmy Hix, Dinah Lee and Bruce Deaton, numerous other relatives and friends.
