He was born in Luverne, AL to Shelby Jean Cornett and the late Jimmy Ike Cornett. He retired from the civil service in Fort Benning, Georgia after working many years as a high voltage electrician.
Jimmy was a strong, simple man with a heart to always love and protect his loved ones. Jimmy loved God, family, friends, horses, and of course, the Alabama Crimson Tide.
Jimmy is survived by his wife, Babbie Cornett; children: Shondra (Ward) Odom, Shea (Gene) Lisle, Brock (Crystal) Cornett, Barbie (Jon) Ballard, and Jessie Wilson; grandchildren: Breanna and Brinley Odom, Konner and Kenzie Cornett, Lilli, Grady, and Henley Lisle, and Jaxson and Mason Ballard; mother Shelby Jean Cornett; brothers: Scott (Kim) Cornett and Randall (Melissa) Cornett; and many other beloved family and friends.
A memorial service will be held at Striffler-Hamby in Phenix City, AL on Thursday, December 30, 2021 at 5 pm to celebrate Jimmy’s life.
