Willie Jo Daniel Gables, age 73, resident of Phenix City, Alabama, went to be with her Savior on Thursday, January 3, 2019. Funeral services are scheduled at Lakewood Hall of Striffler-Hamby, Phenix City, Alabama on Monday, January 7, 2019, 10 a.m. with Reverend M.R. Hamilton officiating. Interment will follow at Lakeview Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, January 6, 2019 from 3-5 p.m.
Mrs. Gables, daughter of the late Homer Daniel and Cola Mae Downer Daniel, was born March 23, 1945 in Richland, Georgia. She was retired from Columbus Library where she faithfully worked as the Office Manager in the Handicap Department (Books for the Blind) for over 20 years. Mrs. Gables was a member of Lakewood Baptist Church. She loved her Lord and Savior; her family, particularly grandchildren; gardening; and the Atlanta Braves. She was a lady who overflowed with kindness towards others, always willing to help anyone.
Mrs. Gables is survived by her husband of 52 years, Corbit Gables of Phenix City, Alabama; two sons, Tim Gables and his wife Beverly of Arkadelphia, Arkansas and Scott Gables and his wife Jennifer of Lebanon, Tennessee; two sisters, Faye Brooks of Dothan, Alabama and Arlene Dalton and her husband Lewis of Columbus; six grandchildren, Craig, Micah, Caroline, Cammie, Jake, and Luke; nieces; nephews; many other relatives and friends.
