Joe Thomas Strickland, age 83, of Phenix City, Alabama passed away on Sunday, December 5, 2021. A visitation for family and friends for Joe will be held Thursday, December 9, 2021 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, EST at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 3770 Highway 431 North, Phenix City, Alabama 36867, followed by a celebration of life funeral service at 11:00 AM, EST with Pastor Boyd Cochran officiating. Burial will follow in Lakeview Memory Gardens. Serving as pall bearers will be Marc Sansbury, Matthew Sansbury, Chad Strickland and Jason Moran.
Mr. Strickland was born October 26, 1938 in Dadeville, Alabama; son of the late Thomas Morgan and Nara Magalene Carroll Strickland. He served in the U.S. Army and early on worked in the textile industry. He pastored many Pentecostal churches over the years, but later retired from Liberty National Insurance Company.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Sammy Strickland and sisters, Magdalene Strickland Berry and Ruth Strickland Ferguson.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Ruby Strickland, daughter, Dianne Yelverton, daughter-in-law, Joanne Strickland, grandchildren, Marc Sansbury (Joni), Matthew Sansbury, Chad Strickland; great grandchildren, Meggie Sansbury, Brooklyn Sansbury, Londyn Sansbury, his sister, Shirley Smith, numerous nieces and nephews.
