

John Scott Ferguson, 71, of Phenix City, Alabama, died Friday March 4, 2011 in Columbus, Georgia. Memorial services will be held 4:00pm EST Wednesday March 9th at the Westminster Presbyterian Church in Columbus with the Reverend Mitch McGinnis officiating, according to Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 3770 Highway 431 N, Phenix City, AL. 36867.
Mr. Ferguson was born November 1, 1939 in Augusta, Georgia, son of the late Edgar Ferguson and Dorothy McDade Ferguson. He graduated from the University of Georgia with a bachelors degree in business and retired from the Provident Life and Accident Insurance Co. after more than 32 years of service. Mr. Ferguson was a member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church in Columbus, GA. Other than his parents he is preceded in death by his sister, Jean Sitz.
Survivors include his wife of 17 years, Patricia Ferguson of Phenix City, his children, Rachel Briggs of Warrenton, MO., Thomas Ferguson of Huntsville, AL., John Scott Ferguson and Elisabeth Eaton of Chattanooga, TN., stepson, David Melson of Alcoa, TN., brother, Lee Ferguson of Atlantic Beach, FL., 3 grandchildren, Lilli Eaton, Roy Briggs and Alice Briggs, nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
