Born on April 13, 1939 in Columbus, Georgia to James Edmond Moore and Pearl M. Fuller.
John is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 53 years, Joe Ann and daughter Katheran, also his seven sisters.
Survivors include, son, Terry (Cindy) Moore of Chelsea, AL, son, William Moore (Patricia White) of Phenix City, AL, daughter, Jo Anna Mahoney (Tommy Weaver), daughter, Estrelita (Raymond) Smith of Valley, AL, on sister-in-law, Emma Elkins of Salem, AL, seven grandchildren, Marcus Chad (Katie) Moore of Attleboro, MA, Brandy (Andy) Lee of Smiths Station, AL, Steven Smith of Camp Le June, NC, Meagan (Jeff) Davis, Jonathan Moore, Stephanie (Joel) Cleveland of Lanett, AL, Timothy Sanders of Lanett, AL and twenty five great grandchildren.
John attended Central High School in Phenix City, AL. John enlisted in the Army National Guard and his unit was activated during the Korean Conflict. He served from 1958 to 1961.
After being discharged from the military. John met and married Joe Ann Traynham, thus becoming an instant father to her three children; Terry, Estrelita and Katheran. Later William and Joanna were added to the family. Together, they made Phenix City, Alabama their home.
John worked very hard for a living, he gave every task 100 percent. He held positions at Western Auto as a mechanic, Jim Wright Construction, Smitty Craft and finally finishing his career at Columbus Consolidated Government as a heavy equipment mechanic. With retirement behind him, he and Joe moved to Hurtsboro, Alabama. John spent countless hours working with the Hurtsboro Water Authority. He learned the water system and kept operations running smoothly for several years. After an extended illness, Mrs. Joe Ann went quietly to her heavenly home.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. EDT, Friday, July 16, 2021 in Lakewood Hall at Striffler-Hamby, Phenix City, AL. Burial will follow in Lakeview Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 9:30 am until 11:00am at the funeral home prior to the service.
