Mrs. Melanie Rogers 72 of Smiths Station, AL passed away Saturday July 3, 2021 at her home.
Melanie was born in Kalispell, Montana and moved to Smiths Station in 1988 where she has resided since. She graduated from Willamette University with her Bachelor’s degree and received her Master’s of Science in Management from Troy University. She worked for the Columbus Regional Health System (now Piedmont) for 24 years before retiring and living her best years knitting, crocheting, reading, and spending time with her dogs who she adored and watching her favorite movies on Turner Classic Movies. Melanie was loved and cherished by all who knew her. Her patience and love knew no bounds and she never met a stranger. Her light will shine forever on even in death.
Melanie was preceded in death by her father Horace G. Poore and mother Frances Clark along with her brothers Benny Poore and Melvin Poore.
She is survived by her husband Victor Rogers with whom she was married to for 50 years this year. Also surviving are her two children Jaimee Lege (Murphy), Shaun Rogers (Angelia) and her 3 grandchildren Abigail Cox, Luke Rogers and Jacob Lege
A small visitation service will be held on July 14th from 5:30-7:00 PM for the family to receive condolences at Striffler-Hamby on Highway 280 in Phenix City, AL
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to East Alabama Humane Society in her honor or to a charity of your choice.
