It is with great sadness that the family of Sue Ramsey Martin announces her passing on September 25, 2025 while surrounded by her loving family.
Funeral Services will be Monday September 29, 2025. The family will receive family and friends at Striffler Hamby Funeral Home, Phenix City, AL at 12:00 (noon) EST for one hour. Interment will follow at 1:00 p.m. EST at Lakeview Memory Gardens. The Rev. Lynn McManious will officiate.
One of two children born February 18, 1937 daughter to the late Frank Ramsey and Julia Pickren Ramsey in Columbus, Georgia. She was a Switchboard Operator for Southern Bell until the birth of her first child where she then became a full time homemaker.
Mrs. Martin was known by all that knew her for kindness and humor. She always remarked that “laughter was the best medicine”. Time with children and grandchildren was her favorite pastime. She thoroughly enjoyed decorating her home and was an amazing cook of delicious meals and desserts. She will always be remembered for her infamous cornbread.
Thank you for being our precious “Mama Sue”, wife, mother, Aunt, and friend to all she met.
Survivors include her three children Tracey Martin Drake, Russ Martin and Brad Martin. Her sister Janice Ramsey Holton. Grandchildren Martin Drake, Matt Drake (Sabrina Yates), Ryan Waller (Cassie), Brock Martin (Hollie), Tyler Martin (Heather) and Addi Maguire. Daughter-in-law Jennifer Scammon Maguire. Great Grandchildren Carly Smith, Martha Ruth Drake, Kohen Waller, Kash Waller, Kollin Waller, Aston Martin, Harper Martin, Kinslee Martin, Raelynn Martin and Michael Harris.
The family would like to express a Special Thank You to Gentiva Hospice, especially her Nurse Sandra and CNA Kayce for the care and compassion they showed during her time of need. Deepest thanks for her immediate family for being her complete support in her last days and Hollie Martin and Cindy Bankston for all of your help.
