Bill was born on April 27, 1944 in Neshoba County, MS, the son of Arthur Lee and Edith L. (Cumberland) Sisson.
After graduating high school, Bill enlisted in the United States Air Force and left for basic training at Lockland Air Force Base in San Antonio, TX. During his military career Bill completed two tours in Vietnam. He retired from active duty as a Master Sergeant in 1984 at Andrews, AFB in Prince George's County, MD.
After retirement Bill relocated to Montgomery, AL where he began work in civil service at Maxwell and Gunter Air Force Bases. He worked various positions there to include, managing inmates, the lake snack bar, and the bowling alleys on both bases.
During his youth Bill enjoyed fast cars and being outdoors. He loved to fish and tinker in his shop. He rarely missed watching his Auburn Tigers and was most happy while spending time with his family. He dearly loved to make people laugh and would pick with anyone who would let him. He was most proud of his military service.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers, Ivie Lee Sisson, of Harrison County, TX, James Arnett Sisson of Philadelphia, MS, Raymon A. Sisson of Sandtown, MS; sister Naomi Sisson Lavender of Meridian, MS; his furbuddies Happy, Lady, and Zack.
He is survived by his sister, Betty Jo Harbour of Houston, TX; sons, William Damon Sisson (JiHoon Kang) of Manassas, VA, Edward Franklin Sisson (Selena Emerson) of Pensacola, FL; daughters, Jennifer Sisson Nelson (Randy) of Andalusia, AL, Abbey Victoria McMillan (George) of Phenix City, AL; granddaughter, Courtney Nelson Mattingly (Colton) of Andalusia, AL; many nieces and nephews; his beloved granddogs Hugo, Charlie, Shelby, Dude, and Korra; his family of RNs, LPNs, and CMAs of The Gardens at Calvary in Columbus, GA.
A celebration of life will be held at 1:30 PM (Eastern Time) on April 15, 2023 at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary in Phenix City, AL. Family will be accepted for a light luncheon at 12:00 PM (Eastern Time.) His ashes will be spread by family in Sandtown, MS, at Maxwell AFB, and in the city he loved most of all, Prattville, AL.
