Adolph E. Maldonado
May 27, 1930- August 23, 2016
Born May 27, 1930 to his loving parents Antonio and Theresa Maldonado and brothers, Tony, Albert, Alex, Arnold, Alfred and sister Alice.
Our dad fell head over heels in love with our mom, Armida Navarro in the Sixth Grade, and he married the love of his life in his 20’s when he returned home from the war in Korea. Our parents couldn’t conceive children, therefore they adopted both Mark and I as infants. We can honestly say we were truly blessed by God to have been chosen and loved by our parents, we had the best childhood a kid could ask for. Our parents showed us unconditional love and that family is always first. Our dad taught us to fish, hunt, shoot guns, and how to survive in the wilderness. Our dad also taught us love, honesty, respect and if you work hard in life, anything is possible.
Our dad wore many hats in his career lifetime, he was an ambulance driver, an Arizona State Deputy Sheriff, a Carpenter, and lastly a Superintendent for his brother Albert who owned Maldonado Construction. Together Uncle Albert and our dad, constructed iconic buildings throughout the Phoenix Metro area. When we look across the city skyline and see the tallest sky scrapper in downtown Phoenix, We proudly say, “Our Dad and Uncle built that”. When we go to the Airport, and pass Terminal 3, we proudly say, “Our Dad and Uncle built that”. We pass the Veterans Hospital, or St Catherine’s Church, we proudly say” Our Dad and Uncle built that”. Also, all of the family homes up and down Maldonado Drive, “Yes, Our dad and his brothers built those too” We are proud of our dad and the Maldonado family legacy they built and created together.
Our dad was serious and all about work during the week, but he lived for his weekends full of fun fishing, hunting, camping, drinking beer, riding horses, roping cows, or hanging out with family and friends at the cabin in Forest Lakes.
Our Dad became disabled in 1976 after a family Jeep accident, and our mom was there by his side thru the years and years of rehabilitation, and she nursed him back to health. Our dad’s disabilities didn’t stop his determination and he soon focused on retirement by keeping his yards meticulously manicured, watching over his grandkids and watching his favorite black and white western movies after his afternoon naps.
His proudest moments include his grandkids, Britney, Brandon, Brock, Stephen, Andrea, and Regina. Followed by his great grandkids, Angie, Giovanni, Jordan, Beau, Kai, Jayden, Marcus, and Eric
Our Dad is with his Queen, he is truly at peace and happy, and we have great comfort in knowing that our parents are finally together in each other’s arms once again. Therefore this is not a sad day, this is a celebration for the life he lived and the way he lived it. He lived and loved to the Fullest, he was our first hero and still our hero today. On behalf of our family we want to thank our family and friends that have been there for us in thoughts and prayers. Whatever you did to console our hearts, we truly appreciate you and Thank you sincerely. ~ Mark & Annette
