

Billy Joe was born December 6, 1951 in Coolidge, Texas to Hazel and Faye Scruggs-Huckaby, one son, Brian Keith, and two grand babies who all have preceded him in death. He was the tenth child of fourteen children. Just 10 months old when the family moved to Arizona, where he would build a lifetime of memories. Billy Joe’s faith was established early. He was baptized at an early age at Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church by Rev. Cecil Murphy.
He attended Peoria Grade School and after graduating 8th grade, he continued his education at South Mountain High School. He met Toni Roberts and were later married and to that union, they had two children Brian Keith and Anthony Huckaby. He has a son Lamont and daughter Tenisha Huckaby.
Billy Joe began his career with the City of Phoenix before joining Roosevelt School District where he worked as a Heavy Equipment operator and later as a School Bus Driver until he retirement.
16 years ago, Billy Joe met his soulmate Patrice. They were married five years later in a private ceremony, and stayed by his side until his passing.
Billy Joe enjoyed life. A diehard Dallas Cowboys fan. He found joy in cooking, Sports, Horse racing, Politics, Casino, playing dominoes and cards with his buddies under the tree.
Billy Joe came into this world fighting to be part of what life had to offer. Having overcome a battle with cancer, he continued to empower every day. His second battle with cancer was strong, but it journeyed home to be with the Lord and his family in Heaven.

Left to Cherish Billy Joe memory, his wife Patrice, his children Anthony, Lamont, Tenisha Huckaby, 19 grandkids, 26 great grandkids. Eight Siblings: Sarah Coleman, Betty Cochran, Ruby, Glenda, Lawrence Sr., Micheal Sr., Jimmy, and James Sr. Huckaby all in surrounding areas of Phoenix, Arizona and Texas, along with nieces and a host of friends.
