

Daniel was born the youngest of 13 children on January 28, 1918 in Colonia Dublan, Chihuahua Mexico. As a child he was spirited and curious, constantly seeking after knowledge. These traits remained true throughout his life and led him to seek further education. Upon graduating high school from Juarez Stake Academy in 1936, he pursued and earned a Bachelor’s Degree from Brigham Young University in 1941; a Master’s Degree from the University of Arizona in 1947; and, a PhD from Ohio State University in 1949. From 1941-45, Daniel served as a member of the United States Army Air Corps where he advanced to the rank of Captain. Professionally, Daniel worked as a professor of Agriculture at Arizona State University in Tempe, AZ from 1950 to 1983. After retirement from ASU, he moved to Thatcher, AZ where he lived until 2010, after which moving to Houston, TX where he spent the remainder of his life.
Throughout his life he was a faithful and devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where he served in and fulfilled many callings, one of which being Bishop of the Tempe Ward from 1964-1971.
Daniel is preceded in death by his first wife, Emma Adams Robinson; son, Daniel Owen Robinson Jr.; and, second wife, Janet Morris Robinson. He is survived by five children, Judy of Glendale, AZ; Ruth Johnston (Jon) of Tempe, AZ; Lee of Hilham, TN; Anita Martin (Dirk) of Mesa, AZ; and Joel (Melynda) of Houston, TX. He leaves behind 13 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
A viewing will be held in his honor on Friday, February 10 from 6:00-8:00pm at the LDS Beck Building, 1221 W. Howe, Tempe, AZ 85281. A memorial grave side service is scheduled for Saturday, February 11 at 10:00am at Resthaven Park Mortuary, 4310 E Southern Ave, Phoenix, AZ 85042.
