Delores grew up in rural Svea, Mn. on the family farm, and graduated from Willmar High School in 1943. After graduating from high school she worked at the Puritan Cafe, Willmar Poultry, Svea Creamery, and the First National Bank.
On April 26, 1951, Delores was united in marriage with Bill Gundberg in Willmar, Mn. They farmed in rural Raymond, Mn.
In August 1959 the family moved to Phoenix, Az. The family had many fond memories of the years there, and of the people they came to know. Delores worked at Motorola on 52nd St. in Phoenix. In May of 1965 the family returned to rural Raymond, Mn. to resume farming. In December 1967 the family returned to Phoenix, Az.
In 1972 the family moved to Tempe, Az., and to the current residence in 1998.
Delores worked in property management and direct sales, but considered her primary vocation as that of homemaker.
She enjoyed gardening and raising flowers, while farming she enjoyed raising her ducks.
Her faith was very important to her, she attended the Assemblies of God Church for many years. Most recently she attended Calvary Chapel.
Well into her 60's she hiked into the Grand Canyon several times, once to the bottom at Phantom Ranch. Also, she climbed to the top of Pichaco Peak outside of Tucson (using cables and all)!
Delores is survived by her daughter Shirley of Chandler, Az., her son William Jr. of Tempe, Az., her brother Vernon Zupke of Harrisburg, Pa., numerous nieces and nephews. Her beloved rescue cats Lucy, Calvin, and Shadow.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Bill (2002), and brothers Irwin, Alfred, Albert, Marvin, Herbert, Kermit, Harry (MIA/N. Korea), and her sister Elvera Larson. Two nieces Mary Russell and Karen Zupke.
