Obituary
Donald Prezell Cobb was born on April 10, 1948, to the late Elisha Cobb Jr. and Sarah Cobb in Phoenix, Arizona. He was the fourth of six children.
As a young boy, Donald attended Mary MacLeod Bethune Elementary and graduated from Phoenix Union High School.
Donald began his 32 years teaching career at the Phoenix Elementary School District #1 in March 1971, and in that same year received his Bachelor of Arts in Education degree from Arizona State University (ASU). He taught for 10 years at Booker T. Washington Elementary and another 22 years at Capitol Elementary, where he retired in May 2003. He achieved multiple Educating for Excellence awards, where his students scored at or above grade level, throughout his teaching career. Donald also earned his Master of Arts in Education degree from ASU in 1977.
Donald enjoyed his alone time and spent most of it outside doing lawn work, gardening and planting, especially cacti. He also liked to debate, and his intellect proved he was good at it. Donald was a very respectful person and was well respected, as much, by all.
Although Donald’s health was declining, he still exhibited his ability to teach until his passing on October 16, 2024. He was preceded in death by his parents, Elisha Cobb Jr and Sarah Cobb; his brothers, Maxie Cobb, James Cobb and Delbert Freeman; his sister, Beverly Cobb. Donald is survived by his sister, Diane Self (Cobb) and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
