Dad,
I know it has been 2yrs since Alexis and I got the call in regards to your passing.  I know my heart should be in the healing phase but it isn't.  I hope during the time that Alexis, you and I spent together, that you truly felt how much I loved and still love you, to this very day.  I didnt love you because of what you did for your granddaughter,Adam, Buddy or me.  I loved/ love you  because you were just Dad to me. I sit and think about all the conversations we had some good and a few bad but that never stopped the way I loved and respected you as dad.  
I also think about the day, that I told you about the passing of my father with tears in my eyes, all the while knowing you were fighting the exactly thing that took his life. I told you "How I needed you to fight because you're my 2nd  dad and I need  you here."  You looked at me and said" I'm not going anywhere soon."  I held on tightly to those words, not realizing God had other plans that didn't involve what my heart wanted.
In closing I'll say this, I guess on the 3rd of October, the icecream didn't call you into the kitchen to eat it, like you used to say. This time it was someone sweeter, kinder and merciful, it was GOD.  HE called you out of the future so you could get rest without the suffering, pain and anguish this world offers, and now are waiting for eternity of life with Jehovah and Jesus.   Rest well dad and know that my heart and my thoughts carry memories of you always.  I love my friend, my daughters grandpa and my dad.

My heart felt condolences to Kenny’s entire family.  I came across his obituary by accident. My name is Cookie. I’m Jimmy Vanley’s Granddaughter.  I met Kenny around 2006 purely by accident too. It’s a long story, but I was totally shocked he was a Vanley and that his grandfather and my grandfather were brothers. Kenny was gracious enough to let me know that if I was ever in Arizona that I could knock on his door.  I am so, so sorry for your loss.

Kenny V was a great friend and co-worker.   Growing up in the same neighborhood and then years later to connect at work when i first started to later having Kenny come and work for me in my group.   He was always positive, a teacher and a really bright light.   Kenny V was a great guy and wish we had more like him.   Floyd

A dad, a grandfather, a best friend, you were my everything papa. I will always love. You were always there for me through my ups and downs and when I needed a dad you stepped up to be my comfort. You would call me out of the blue saying " Heeeyyy Alexis, everything alright....I haven't heard from ya in a while". You always made my day a joy when I was around you. I will never forget what you taught me and how much you loved me because my love for you was just as much. Being in your presence was a blessing and I'm so thankful to have called you MY ONE AND ONLY PAPA. You'll forever be my hero.

Papa, 
It is with a heavy heart and deep sadness that I have to say this here and not to you.  I thank you for being my grandpa for all of my life, even though I wasn't your biological grandchild.  You never treated me any differently.   You alway gave me the best of your care, advice and love.  You was everything to me as a young child and even now.  You are my hero and I was very honored to call you My Papa.  I will always have a special place in my heart and will never forget the things you shared with me on being a good man.
I will love and miss you everyday until we meet again.
