January 6, 1965 - February 3, 2022
Khalil Ibrahim Al-Iboudy who was 57 years young, left on Thursday February 3, 2022 to join his father Ibrahim Al-Iboudy, his mother Khalidyah Qasim and his sister Basma Ibrahim, all who had preceded him in death. Khalil was born in Basrah, Iraq, on January 6, 1965.
Khalil was an amazing young man who survived torture, being shot and still had forgiveness, understanding, compassion and caring for his fellow man. He made daily visits to the streets of Phoenix to distribute water, food and clothing to the homeless, all paid for out of his own pocket, for all the years he lived in Phoenix. He watched over his friends, family and anyone he felt needed help.
Khalil met the love of his life Josie in 1996, while they were both working at ASU, where he worked controlling the inventory for MU and every other job they needed him for until 2008, when Sodexo lost the contract and he transferred to Scottsdale Insurance Company as the Assistant Manager, where he stayed until 2010, then going to GCU where he was still working at the time of his death.
Khalil and Josie were a perfect match she was beautiful, sweet, intelligent & timid. He was protective, understanding, intelligent and kind. Josie had 2 daughters and a son. It gave him a family and it worked because,he loved her & her family and missed his family. He loved his grandchildren and especially his granddaughter, little Coco his sidekick, they would draw, read and paint together, he gave her a nickname “Sumara”.
Khalil was so loved by many and the hole he leaves in the world, is a big gaping one!
He loved his new home America and all the opportunities it had given him, along with his new friends he had made here, both from his old country now living here and new friends he made here in America.
You will never find anyone with an unkind word to say about this compassionate and kind young man. He was adopted by David and Marie Peterson who he called his parents, they loved him like their son and he loved them like his family. He and Josie have been family since Marie and Khalil started working together in 2006 and bonded quickly, while sharing a small office space together at ASU.
If you knew Khalil, you knew he was a Super Hero! A man that had survived unbelievable adversity and had come out the other side touch by his God! He had a sense about him that made you know he understood what it was like to suffer, to be hungry, to be so close to death, that he had seen his God and was here to help others deal with the adversity’s in their own lives. This amazing man shined such a bright light in the world that has now gone out, when we needed it the most!
May he now finally Rest In Peace, free of all the pain and suffering he endured in this life.
Khalil is survived by his wife Josie and children.
