

He was the beloved husband of Joyce Kolb Houser, father of Kenneth L. Houser and wife Nancy, and two granddaughters Allison and Kara Houser, of Phoenix, Arizona. He was preceded in death by a son Keith Houser and a sister Louise M. Houser. He is also survived by his brother Clinton Houser and his wife of Ocean Pines, Maryland, and several nieces and nephews.
Norman served in the U.S. Coast Guard as a medical corpsman during Word War II and was an active member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary where he had served as a local recruiter for the Coast Guard Academy. He was a member of the local Power Boat Squadron where he taught small craft navigation and safety courses prior to moving to Phoenix in 2015.
He was a graduate of Muhlenberg College and East Tennessee State University where he obtained a Master’s Degree in Public Health. He had a long career as a public health professional with the State of Pennsylvania.
Relatives and friends may call at the Bachman, Kulik and Reinsmith Funeral Home on Hamilton Street in Allentown on Saturday August 6, 2016 between the hours of 9:30 and 10:30.
Interment will be at the Cedar Hill Memorial Cemetery, 1700 Airport Road, Allentown, Pennsylvania.
In lieu of flowers or gifts, donations may be made to the Coast Guard Foundation – www.coastguardfoundation.org. Local arrangements have been entrusted to the Resthaven / Carr-Tenney Mortuary & Memorial Gardens, Phoenix, Arizona.
