Pat attended public schools in Casa Grande and was a graduate of Casa Grande Union High School. She attended Central Arizona College and Arizona State University. While at Arizona State, she earned Bachelor and Master’s Degrees in Sociology.
Professionally, Patricia worked as an instructor at the University of Texas-San Antonio, but spent most of her career as a professor where she retired in 2015. At the time of her passing, Pat was an adjunct professor in sociology at Central Arizona College.
Patricia was a lifelong member of First Pentecostal Church in Phoenix, AZ, where she was an active participant in numerous activities. She was also active in the Mountain States Council. Pat participated in the Black Women’s Task Force and was a strong advocate for minority college students. In addition to teaching, she reached many of them through counseling and mentoring.
Patricia is survived by a daughter, Courtney Eddings of Phoenix, AZ; her parents, Mildred and William Eddings, Sr. or Casa Grande, AZ; sister, Dr. Dene Andrews, of Arizona City, AZ; brothers, Garlin Eddings, of Casa Grande, AZ; Dr. Michael Eddings, of San Francisco, CA; Dr. Bill Eddings (Betty); nephew, Roth Eddings (Nicole) of Mesa, AZ; and host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Patricia would not want us to dwell in long periods of sorrow, but to rejoice that she no longer has to endure the pains of this life. From the Psalmist (30:5):
“……Weeping may endure for a night,
But joy comes in the morning.”
Lord Jesus, we thank you for giving Patricia the grace to help others, faith to walk with You; the for strength and love to serve.
