Teodoro (Ted) Ruiz del Rio passed away on May 12, 2018 at the age of 93. He was born on April 1, 1925 in Detroit, MI to Reymundo and Valvina del Rio. He served in the Army at the age of 18 and was a proud WWII veteran.He was a longtime Phoenix resident and retired from AJ Bayless in 1987. He was a life long learner and in his spare time he taught Sunday School and designed and built three family homes which included laying the brick, installing electrical, plumbing and hanging drywall.Teodoro is survived by his children, Benito (Jane) del Rio, Ramiro (Norma) del Rio, Margarita D. (Antonio) Maldonado, Ruben del Rio and Gloria D. Benson; 17 grandchildren and 37 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers; Tony, Marcelo, Ralph, Johnny and his sister Rosa del Rio.He was predeceased by his parents, his wife Teresa, daughter Helen Cantu, daughter-in-law Penny del Rio and son-in-law Leonard Benson. His sisters Natalia Nañez, Delores Ortega and Anita Lapine. His brothers Reymundo Jr. and Alfred del Rio. A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, May 19, 2018 at Resthaven/Carr-Tenney Mortuary & Memorial Gardens, 4310 E. Southern Avenue, Phoenix, AZ 85042. Viewing will be held at 9:00am followed by a celebration service at 11:00am. Interment will immediately follow. The family would like to thank Fellowship Square Phoenix where he enjoyed being a long time resident and his care provider, Julie Salcido of Heritage Care Home for her loving care, assistance and support provided to Ted and his family during his last days.
