My grandmother / mother has had to play many roles in her lifetime. I've always admired her incredible bond with my mother her eldest daughter Debbie Allison -Brandon -Valdez.  My grandmother was a very caring lady to everyone that was in her life whether it be friend or family. She was an excellent peacemaker she never wanted anybody fighting or upset with each other she always just wanted everybody to be happy and be together.She had the biggest heart she always had ideas and strategies to whatever obstacle that anybody would throw at her about there life from her own experiences . And had many sayings. from (you can lead a horse to water but you can't make it drink) to( this ain't my first rodeo) to (don't judge a book by its cover) to( it will all come out in the wash) she had so many sayings whatever the situation might be. My grandma has always been neutral and has always seen both sides to every story. My grandmother was a teacher and she fulfilled that role proudly.  she had many stories of her kids at school from her excellent students to her troubled students. She felt that all of them should be rewarded to an extent of course. she didn't reward bad behavior but  the troubled students she always got to the bottom of the reasoning for their troubles. A lot of the times it lacked from there home life. My grandmother did all sorts of things to help them gain their courage to want to learn. She would bring extra school supplies, snacks and even clothing for these kids as she cared for them as if they were her own.As a kid and until now I have learned so much from her. Work hard for what you want, stay humble, always be grateful for what you have, be considerate and kind you never know what the other person is going through. My grandmother has always shown me an immense amount of support in every aspect of my life.

I was new to Laveen as a 12 yr old. When I met you and your daughters, I felt so welcomed. I looked up to you as a mother figure.
The girls and I hung out and had fun. The very FEW times we got into trouble, you always knew. I swear you had ESP! You and the girls introduced me to the world of goats. I enjoyed my 4-H years. You taught me a lot. I felt honored to do the chores while you were out of town. That meant bunches-you trusted me. You offered me support,compassion and advice. No questions asked.
Wanda, I love you. Thank you for your role shaping me into the adult that I have become.

Oh Grannie where to start… Even tho I was adopted into the family at 3 years old… You were the best Grannie I have gotten to grow up with… You taught me so many things in my life … All the county and state fairs we spent together… All the hours we spent in the show ring all the hours in the barn doing barn chores … Even making me drink goats milk (yuck 🤣) lol… When my life got tough you were always there no matter what… Your famous words to me were “tough in up or I’ll give you something to cry about young lady” and I saw the paddle A LOT 🤣… But you always showed me nothing but love no matter how difficult I could be at times… Your heart was so big ♥️… God knew I need a Grannie like you in my life and He blessed me with the best on a granddaughter could ever ask or pray for… I am so grateful and thankful for you… wish I could have held your hand and kissed your forehead one more time… Father God really got the greatest woman and Grannie to ever bless this world in heaven… This is not good bye it’s till I see you again… I LOVE YOU Grannie Forever and Always ♥️ Your favorite grand child CariAnn 😙

My mother was always the best at listening to us and making sure we new we were loved and valued.  She would always find the positive. Once we were watching our son Alex play a little league baseball game,  and though Alex's team mate missed catching the ball , allowing the other team to run home and score, she continued clapping and cheering for the boy who proudly crossed home plate. I said Mom, that was the other team, why are you cheering? She smiled and replied , " everyone needs to be cheered  for, we should encourage them as well as our own team!"
