He was 76, a Vietnam veteran; recipient of a purple heart and bronze star for valor.
He is survived by his daughter, Twila D LePoint (Mark) and son, Shane Perera; three sisters and brothers -in- law, Barbara P LeBlanc, Claudette P Shields (Brian) of Belle River and Bernadette P Powell (John) of Gonzales; one brother, Clyde A Perera of Belle River; and grandchildren, Kelsie Berthelot and Ethan Melancon.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bernie J Perera Sr. and Maude Daigle Perera; wife, Debra Aucoin Perera, and brother-in-law, Morrison P LeBlanc.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday Dec 23, 2025 at 11:00 am at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church in Pierre Part conducted by Rev. Al Davidson. Interment to follow at Sacred Heart Mausoleum in Belle River. Ourso Funeral Home, Donaldsonville in charge of arrangements.
