

Nellie Blanchard Landry a native of the Paincourtville area and a resident of Pierre Part, passed away Monday, September 22, 2014 at her residence. She was 103, and would have celebrated her 104th birthday on October 4. Mrs. Landry was a woman of deep faith, with a special love for the rosary. Her interests included gardening, fishing, casino trips, bingo with the Council on Aging, and spending time with her family. She was a member of the Ladies Altar Society, and participated and placed in the Senior Olympics.
Visitation will be Friday, September 26, 2014, 9:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at Ourso Funeral Home, Pierre Part. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, September 26, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, with Rev. Al Davidson, celebrant. Entombment will be in St. Joseph the Worker Mausoleum, under the direction of Ourso Funeral Home, Pierre Part.
Survivors include her daughter, Shirleen B. Landry and fiancé Albert Landry; son, Jerry Landry and wife JoAnn; foster son, Steven Coupel; 8 grandchildren; Debbie, Larry , Gary, Barry, Rosean, Sharon, Lisa and Erica; 21 great grandchildren, 7 great great grandchildren and 2 on the way.
Pallbearers will be; Larry Landry, Gary Landry, Barry Landry, Blake Landry, Rocky Bush, and Jeremy Crochet.
Honorary pallbearers; Tyler Boudreaux and Louis Woods.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Cecile Simoneaux Blanchard and Simon Blanchard; her husband, James “Cook” Landry; foster daughter, Anna Mae B. Hebert; son-in-law, Joseph John Landry; 2 sisters, Louise B. Berthelot, and Hilda B. Perera; 5 brothers, Lawless Blanchard, Edmond Blanchard, Jim Blanchard, Claude Blanchard, and Jean Blanchard.
