A native and lifelong resident of Pierre Part, Pokeen passed away on Sunday, March 5, 2017. She was 86. Pokeen was known by many as "Queen of the Swamp" for her hard work alongside her late husband, Nolan Richard. She was a fisherman and trapper, having trapped from alligator to nutria. She is survived by her daughters, Betty Richard and life partner, Jimmie Lynn and Doreen Richard; sons, Philip Richard and wife, Tressie, Bobby Richard, and Bradley Richard; sister, Anita Alborado; brother, Scurly Theriot; 19 grandchildren and "Taz" the dog; 20 great grandchildren; and 1 great great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband, Nolan; parents, Joseph and Marcelene Gaudet Duprey; and 6 grandchildren. Visiting will be at Ourso Funeral Home, Pierre Part on Thursday, March 9, 2017 from 10 am until 12:45 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will at 1:00 pm at St. Joseph the Worker Church. Burial to follow in the church cemetery.
