

He was an Air Force Veteran, a member of VFW (Quarter Master) and the American Legion. He was a volunteer for the Pierre Part Fire Department as Vice President. He was an avid Ham Radio Operator who loved communicating with other operators around the world, and also educated Boy Scouts utilizing Morse Code. He was the owner of Coupel's TV Shop and a former employee of Agrico. Simon loved gardening, helping others and was an all-around handyman who could fix anything! One of his proudest accomplishments was climbing Mt. Fuji in Japan.
He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Mary Ann Sedotal Coupel; two daughters, Jennifer Gueho (Marty) and Julie Guerin (John Blair); five grandchildren, Glenn Crochet, Jr., Jake Crochet (Nikki), Austin Blair Guerin, Ryan Guerin and Darren Gueho (Lanie); seven great-grandchildren, Addison and Ava Crochet, Kade and Jase Crochet, Annelise Fryoux, Ayden and Cohen Gueho; sister, Dorothy Huval (Allen); three brothers, Herbert (Sylvia), Lester and Edley Coupel (Beatrice); along with a host of numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Georgina Breaux Coupel; three sisters, Nellie Mire, Winnie Miller and Mae Courville; brother, Norman Coupel.
The pallbearers will be Marty Gueho, John Blair Guerin, Glenn Crochet, Jr., Jake Crochet, Austin Blair Guerin, Ryan Guerin and Darren Gueho.
Visitation will be held on Friday, February 2, 2024 for 8:30 am at Ourso Funeral Home in Pierre Part with a Mass of Christian Burial for 11:00 am at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church. Interment to follow in the church mausoleum. Father Al Davidson will be officiating.
