Mr. Ronald "Ron" Davis was born in Lexington, KY on September 3, 1946, to Flora Mae and Cecil C. Davis. Throughout his high school years, he attended Bryan Station High School where he was very active in sports. He furthered his education at the University of Kentucky prior to being drafted.
Ron proudly served his country in the United States Army 1st Calvary from 1967 to 1973 where he was honorably discharged as Captain after two tours in Vietnam. Upon his return, he worked in commercial roofing doing cost analysis and sales production.
In his spare time you could often find him cheering on the UK wildcats, Miami Hurricanes, playing golf (even though he never had a hole in one), and coaching little league baseball. He was a student of American History which led him to love traveling to Florida landmarks, US Natural Parks, and Washington DC. He also enjoyed thoroughbred horses at Spendthrift Farms and Keeneland Race Track.
Always remember in the words of Ron, "A good cup of coffee is with 4 sugars."
Ron is survived by his loving wife, Kathleen Davis; children, Mitzi Fugate (Robert), Amy Whitehead, and Kyle Davis (Daphne); grandchildren Dawson, Davis, and Tate Fugate, Matthew Whitehead, and Cecilia and Lucy Mae Davis; and siblings, Verla Jean Oakes (Bennie), Joann Cunningham (Fred), and Cecil Ray Davis (Betty).
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Ron’s memory to Tunnel to Towers Foundation who rebuild homes for catastrophically injured veterans and first responders.
