Stu was born in Montreal, Canada and lived in Parma Heights, Ohio, Buffalo, New York, and Southern & Northern California before settling in Pompano Beach, Florida. Being of good health, his death was sudden and unexpected.
Stu worked for many years in telecommunications and then yacht sales before retiring. He met and married the love of his life, Ginny Rae (née Brunner), when they both worked for the same telecommunications company.
Ginny and Stu shared many common interests, the love of animals, the love of friends and family and, of course, the love of the water and boating. While residing in Antioch, California they enjoyed cruising the Delta on their boats and spending time at Delta Yacht Club. Stu was involved in Club management as Port Captain, Rear & Vice Commodore and finally Commodore. He was loved and admired for his devotion to the Club.
Stu and Ginny were looking for a change of atmosphere (and boating) as well as new adventures which led them to Pompano Beach, Florida. There they enjoyed their new home, opening it up to family and friends alike. Joining a group of fellow boat enthusiasts (Little Palm Boat Club) they spent many short and long trips up and down the East Coast of Florida and the Bahamas on their motor vessel, Disconnected. Ginny and Stu had found paradise in these voyages.
Stu loved volunteering at Meals on Wheels and had recently begun working as a volunteer usher with the Broward Center for the Performing Arts. He was always looking for ways to give back as he considered himself very fortunate in life.
Stu is survived by his wife, Ginny as well as his siblings Iain Rae, Lesley Rae Klag and Sandra Spezzaferri. He is also survived by seven nieces and nephews (Nathaniel Rae, Jesse Garza, Rachelle Garza, Hannah Carpenter, Cole Garza, Mitchell Spezzaferri, and Valerie Spezzaferri) who he loved and adored, as well as two grand nephews, Dustin & Grant Carpenter.
In lieu of flowers it is requested that a donation be made to Meals on Wheels of South Florida.
