

Curtis Andrew Potter, 78 of Port Arthur passed away Thursday, April 28, 2016 at home surrounded by his family. Curtis was born May 13, 1937 in Freeburn, Kentucky to the late Curtis and Corbie Wallace Potter. He was raised in Elkhorn City, Kentucky and East Bank, West Virginia and made Texas his home in 1951. Curtis attended Nederland Junior and Nederland High School. He served his country in the United States Navy in September 1954 on the USS Hancock and received an Honorable discharge in February 1958. Curtis retired from Ameripol Synpol, Port Neches after 38 years. Curtis is best described by his family as a loving husband, father, grandfather and a good friend to many. He loved life, travel and most of all participating in all antique car functions. Curtis was diagnosed with kidney cancer and fought courageously, never complaining and always positive he would prevail with his positive outlook. Curtis will be greatly missed and honored by many.
Curtis was preceded in death by his parents.
Curtis is survived by his devoted wife of over 56 years, JoAnn Quebedeaux Potter; sister, Masha Baggett of Winston-Salem, North Carolina; children, Dana L. Potter Abernathy and her husband Arthur; Danny A. Potter and his wife Jan; Drew J. Potter and his wife Angie; grandchildren, Whitney Forinash, Nicole Potter, Madison Potter, Macy Potter, Hana Potter, Isabela Potter, Addison Abernathy and a great grandson.
A gathering of family and friends will be held Sunday, May 1, 2016 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a Rosary to be recited at 5:00 p.m. at Grammier-Oberle Funeral Home, Port Arthur. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, May 2, 2016 at Little Flower Catholic Church, Port Acres with burial to follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
