David William Landry Jr.

David W. Landry, Jr., 66, of Port Arthur passed away on Wednesday, December 12, 2012, at his home surrounded by his family. David was born August 22, 1946, in Port Arthur, to the late David W. Landry Sr., and Margaret Whiddon Landry.

David was a lifelong resident of Port Arthur. He proudly served his country in the United States Army, earning the rank of Sergeant and was a member of the rifle team. David worked all his life in the Petro-Chemical Industry and retired from Huntsman. His family best describes him as a devoted father and proud grandfather. David was a single father and spent his life ensuring that his children were raised with everything he could provide. He was a caretaker for his family and community, often helping anyone that he could. His children and family describe him as hardworking, reliable, responsible and influential. David loved being a grandfather and fulfilled that role proudly by being involved in every aspect of their lives. David was also known as a great athlete and was known for his involvement in baseball, fast pitch softball coaching Little League, tennis, hunting and fishing. David was very proud of his Cajun heritage and proud of the family he leaves behind. He will be greatly missed by many.

David is preceded in death by his parents, brother, Darrell Landry and stepmother Inez Landry.

David is survived by his daughter, Tori Flowers of Groves; son, David W. Landry, III and his wife Isla of Port Neches; brother, Dwight Landry of Port Arthur; grandchildren, Jullien Flowers, Keagan Landry, Olivia Flowers, Christian Flowers, Mayson Landry, Alyson Landry and Isaac Landry.

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Friday, December 21, 2012, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., with a Rosary to be recited at 6:00 p.m., at Grammier-Oberle Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m.., Saturday, December 22, 2012 at Grammier-Oberle Funeral Home with burial to follow at Oak Bluff Cemetery, Port Neches.
