

Floyd J. Harrington, 75, of Groves, passed away Saturday, October 8, 2011, at Magnolia Manor in Groves. He was born on February 10, 1936, in Abbeville, LA to the late Dewey Harrington and Paula Trahan. He was a lifelong resident of Groves. He retired from the International Maritime Association after 30 years of service as a longshoreman with Local Union #25.
Floyd could best be described as a true outdoorsman; fishing was how he loved spending his time. Floyd was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend.
A gathering of his family and friends will be held on Monday, October 10, 2011, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00p.m., at Grammier- Oberle Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday October 11, 2011, at Grammier-Oberle Funeral Home in Port Arthur, with burial to follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Groves.
Floyd was preceded in death by his parents and his wife of 48 years, Rita Harrington.
He is survived by his daughters, Tina Benoit and Cheryl Bush of Groves; sons, Richard and his wife Mila of Jasper and Kenneth Harrington of Port Arthur; brothers, Daniel Harrington and his wife Shirley of Groves and Bobby Harrington and his wife Audrey of Groves; 9 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
