

Gay Florence Lytle, 70, of Sour Lake, formerly of Port Arthur, passed away Tuesday, December 27, 2011, at St. Elizabeth’s hospital in Beaumont. She was born on January 17, 1941, to the late Regan and Joy Mathis. She was a lifelong resident of Port Arthur before moving to Sour Lake in 1989. She graduated Thomas Jefferson High School, Port Arthur, in 1958. Gay could best be described as a loving wife, devoted mother, and trusted friend and often gave to others before herself. She enjoyed to travel and lived in many parts of the country as a military spouse.
Gay is survived by her husband of 51 years, Norman Lytle; son, Master Gunnery Sergeant Glenn Lytle and his wife Elizabeth of North Carolina; daughter, Norma Mull and her husband Donald of Sour Lake; brothers, Ray Mathis and his wife Louise, Roy Mathis and his wife Beth; grandchildren, Amanda Mull, Mathew Mull, Sherrie Seymour and her husband Bennett, and Kellie Lytle; great grandchildren, Kali Seymour, Chandler Seymour and Jacob Paxton.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Saturday, December 31, 2011 from 10:00 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. at Grammier – Oberle Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, December 31, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at Grammier-Oberle Funeral Home with burial to follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Groves.
