John G Richard

John was a resident of Port Arthur for over 50 years after moving here from Louisiana. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. John married Elaine Yoo in 1952. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, and loved animals. He was a member of St. Catherine’s Catholic Church and devoted much of his time helping and serving there. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus in Groves.

John was preceded in death by his parents and beloved wife.

His survivors include a brother, Allen Richard and wife Dora of Port Neches; a sister, Nelsarine “Nancy” Sonnier and husband Joseph of Jennings, LA; 2 nephews, Brandan Richard and wife Patricia of Port Neches, Eric Richard of Nederland; a niece, Debbie LeBouef and husband James of Jennings, LA; and numerous cousins, great nieces and great nephews.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Odyssey Hospice for the compassionate care given to our beloved John. To his personal caregivers, Paula and Ed Carter, our words cannot express the gratitude we have for your devotion and love that you gave John.

A gathering of his family and friends will be held on Monday, May 16, 2011 from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. with a rosary being recited at 6:30 p.m. at Grammier-Oberle Funeral Home, Port Arthur.

Funeral Services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 17, 2011 at Grammier-Oberle Funeral Home.
