

Leonard W. Culp, 85 of Groves, passed away on Saturday, January 18, 2014 in Beaumont. Leonard was born to the late Harry and Mary Culp on September 8, 1928 in Akron, Ohio. Leonard enjoyed hunting and is described by his family as a true outdoorsman. Leonard traveled all over the world as a Merchant Marine. Leonard served his country proudly in the United States Air Force during the Korean War as a Mechanic while stationed in Puerto Rico. He will be greatly missed by many.
Leonard is preceded in death by his parents, wife of over 64 years, Lorris Lou Baronet Culp, son, Jerome Culp, brothers, Woodrow Jacobs and Raymond Culp.
Leonard is survived by his daughters, Mona Murrell and Mark Crane of Canyon Lake; Cheri Denny and her husband Curt of Port Arthur; sister, Margaret Painter of Chambersburg, Pennsylvania; grandchildren Brandon Placette, Jenny Placette and Chris Murrell; great grandchildren, B.J. Placette and Barrett Placette.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Wednesday, January 22, 2014 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with a Rosary to be recited at 6:00 p.m., at Grammier-Oberle Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday January 23, 2014 at St. Peters Catholic Church with burial to follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park, Groves, officiated by Monsignor Kenneth Greig and Rev. David Placette
