Mary was born on January 13th, 1934 in Port Arthur, Texas to Dallas and Christine Haley. She graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in Port Arthur and went to college later in life to pursue a degree in Art. Mary had the voice of an angel and sang in the church choir from the time she was a child. She and her younger sister Polly grew up surrounded by loving parents, grandparents and great-grandparents and always spoke with great joy about her childhood and family. Mary loved music, art, literature and cooking and was an amazing and prolific artist skilled in all mediums including painting, drawing, and sculpting. She loved beautiful clothes of the latest fashion and jewelry, especially rings; she loved animals, especially her cats she owned throughout her life and enjoyed nature and being outdoors. Mary loved antiques and classic movies and had a wonderful sense of humor and comedic timing and loved to tell jokes. She had a contagious laugh that would make anyone smile. Mary was a devoted mother and grandmother and was very proud of the accomplishments of her children and grandchildren and was always extremely supportive of their talents. Mary was a woman of great faith as she faced many hardships and tragedies in her life, her faith never wavered.
Survivors include her husband, Frank Defrancis; sister, Polly Smith and husband Rush; children, Roxane Gray and husband Phillip, Carlo Defrancis, Amanda Defrancis, Ellen Scott, Stan Scott, Steve Scott; grandchildren, Haley and husband Chris, Hillary and husband Cole, Hannah, Dallas, Gavin, Cassie, Garrison, Stuart, Candice, Tanis, Katlynne; great grandchildren, Clark, Christian, Chloe and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents Dallas and Christine Haley, two infant sons, grandparents and great-grandparents.
A visitation will take place from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Friday, March 20, 2020, at Grammier-Oberle Funeral Home in Port Arthur with a “Celebration of Life” service to begin at 6:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
