

Anthony C. (Tony) Morena was born on July 26, 1927, in Long Island City, New York to Joseph and Vincenza Morena. He passed away peacefully on August 6, 2023, at Treasure Coast Hospice in Fort Pierce, Florida. Originally from Whitestone, New York, Anthony has been a resident of Port St. Lucie for the past 36 years.
Anthony is survived by his children Doreen A. (Morena)Recco (Salvatore); Anthony J. Morena (Wendy); Jane F. (Morena) Donaggio (Marino) and Frank G. Morena (Michele). At his death he had 13 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren who lovingly called him “Big Pop”.
He is predeceased by his wife of 53 years Phyllis D.(Morano) Morena; his parents Joseph N. and Vincenza F. (Priori) Morena; and his brothers James N. Morena (Concetta) and Alfred F. Morena (Anna).
Anthony was proud to be counted among the veterans of World War II and was a member of American Legion Post 318 in Port St. Lucie. He was a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus both here and in Whitestone, NY. He has been retired from the US Postal Service for the last 40 years and enjoyed his retirement years boating, fishing and enjoying local jazz concerts with his friend and companion, Rose Mazarredo.
Funeral Services will be held at Aycock Funeral Home, 1504 SE Floresta Drive, Port St. Lucie on Thursday, August 10, 2023 . A vigil service will be held at Aycock at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Mass of Christian Burial will be at St. Lucie Catholic Church, 280 SW Prima Vista Boulevard, Port St. Lucie on Friday, August 11, 2023 at 9:30 am with interment to follow at Forest Hills Memorial Park & Gardens where he will join his beloved Phyllis.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to St. Lucie Catholic Church, 425 SW Irving Street, Port St. Lucie, Florida 34983.
